Heros and Henchesmen doesn't always steal your drop rate. Why? Because a lot of time I get my green with the very very first try. (Or I didn't actually farm that boss, it's just I happened to encounter him and he drop)
I always farm greens with heros, so far I already have 7 greens including the 2 green spears! But I do admit that Darksong boss doesn't even drop any items beside cash. *or not even cash*
I've farm the Darksong quite a few times too, and no drop. I'd like to believe someone mentioned before... if people over-farm an area... the boss's green drop rate is likely to be very very rare. *Dunno if Anet try to make green weapon price go high again*

Personal opinion:
Completing Factions Grandmaster Cartographer with Henchmen = One Green drop
Completing Nightfall Grandmaster Cartographer with Henchmen = Three green drops. (incl. the before mentioned Darksong)
Maybe the farm detection got better? After all, the community often said that they did not want greens to become dime a dozens. effective means of antifarms would then be a good solution. Since Anet hardly talks about droprate details (like exact chances fot greens) we are none the wiser, but I can assure you, those greens drop.

I bought it for 30k, since I wanted a max spear.
I don't really regret it anymore, after all the stories of him being stingy.

Was questing with my buddy yesterday and we killed him (sent the henchies away) and he dropped it the first time for him.
I went out today with another guildie and we killed him and he dropped it the first time for me.

Wow, thanks for the input guys. I don't think I did ever get the farming code but I'm still not sure what it was. Since this weekend is 3x drop I guess I'll trry alot there. I'll also try the thing where you send away your henchies. Oh, btw, can someone post a solo Paragon build so I can kill him by myself.

Considering that the spear is now like 15k or less, people are definately getting drops.
You guys do know that if you flag your henchmen to go far away and their names in the party turn grey, you no longer share drops with them?
With the 3x green weekend coming up, I seriously doubt any green except the endgame ones is going to be worth over 25k

After some experimentation in NF I assure you that the green drop rates are nowhere near the rates of Factions. Just for heck of it- all drops are slimmer than in previous chapters. If you want to see something rare its max damage white weapon. I'm still to witness one dropping and I'm the Realm of Torment.

Some things you guys overlooked:
Jishol Darksong is right next to the portal. I have noticed that, the easier it is to get to a boss, the less often they will drop their green weapon. This would make sense, because it helps to reduce the number to around the same amount as a green droped by a boss in the middle of an area.
Also, I can kill Jishol Darksong with a 55hp necro/monk. (if you can't figure out how I do that, then you shouldn't be farming)

I farmed him with 3 of my heros and killed him 30 times and got nothing. He is an easy farm, give it a month or two and it will probably become a common and cheap green.

By chance, I happened by this boss for the first time this morning, and he dropped the spear for me. Despite having 7 NPCs in my party.
It's just blind luck sometimes.

I already have a solo build. Hybrid 55hp necro ftw!!
Now to test this...

another build that works is the aformentioned killing all the mobs around him, sending them away and going back with your midnight n/me

Either over farmed areas DOES matter or the drop rates are really really low.
I've killed Sskai boss over 50 times, (not in a row) and i never got it.
